Pretty, Polished, and Unbothered

Ever since I was a little girl, I've always known that I would be a girly girl.

From an early age, I cared about my appearance and how I presented myself. Growing up, I was always told that you’re a reflection of your parents, and that idea stayed with me. Over the years, through middle school, high school, and now college, my fashion inspirations have grown and evolved. Along the way, I’ve discovered what truly works for me, and I’ve found some of the best advice on how to always look pretty, polished, and unbothered.

What does classy really mean? Being classy isn't about labels or money. Classy is confidence and confidence is classy. It’s about the details that make you, you.

Nothing says classy like a signature hairstyle that’s neat, timeless, and effortlessly iconic. I know for some, the first thing you see is a person’s outfit. I mean, that’s true and all, but for me it’s the hair. I love getting my hair done, and I love unlocking new characters, so of course, the first thing I'll see is your hair. Let’s be real, your hair can make or break your whole vibe. When I think about polished looks, I think silk press, bohemian knotless butt length, a sleek ponytail, a middle part or side part sew-in, a wig installed with loose curls, or a curly flip-over quick weave. And I can't forget about the natural styles, the original styles. However, it’s important to let your hair breathe! It’s fine to get styles back-to-back, but show some love to your natural hair from time to time, with a trim, of course.

Looking classy doesn't mean you need a closet full of designer pieces. It’s about how you style what you already have. Let’s be real, we all have those days when we don’t know what to wear. But here’s the tea: Think timeless basics, clean fits, and a touch of elegance. If you are someone who hasn't developed a style yet, do your own research and go to Pinterest or fashion influencers you aspire to dress like. My inspirations come from Haile Rose, Mikaria Janae, Dearra Taylor, Rihanna, and Karrueche Tran. Personally, I enjoy pink, black, brown, and orange. I love vibrant colors and neutrals on my skin. When I shop for heels or sandals, I try to find matches within that color scheme, a style, and a color that is timeless. The perfect shoe that I could wear with anything. Because in the long run, that makes it easier when putting outfits together.

When it comes to jewelry, less is always more. I wear jewelry with everything, even when I'm wearing a chill outfit on a rainy day. A pair of dainty studs, a necklace, or a simple bracelet can instantly elevate your look without feeling over the top.

Your eyes are the cherry on top of your vibe, and this truly makes a classy look shine through. Simple mascara, light-volume lash extensions, and well-groomed brows can make your eyes pop without being overdone. Now, if you add light red/pink blush, lip lipgloss, and a touch of highlight, you’ve got a polished look.

Last but not least, your nails. I know every girl isn't a fan of getting their nails done, and that's okay! But if you're one of those, it’s important to keep your natural nails clean and cut down. Having dirt under your nails doesn't make you look polished or feminine. It’s one thing not to have your nails done at all, but it’s a different story if they’re always dirty. When it comes to nails, I'm very versatile with my design, but I love a good French tip, almond, or stiletto shape. Nails really do set the tone, and they add that special touch when you add on bracelets or cute rings.

Looking pretty and polished has nothing to do with an aesthetic or perfection; it’s a lifestyle. From your signature hairstyle to your outfit, jewelry, nails, and finishing touches, it’s all about creating a look that feels effortless yet polished.

i loved this so much omg. I am currently working out my signature look and I have first found out my signature color is pink. I am aiming to buy more pink things so when people think of me they think pink! For me my hairstyles for elegance is a good flexi rod set or twist out! We as black women have to remember our natural hair IS classy and professional and embrace the natural. But trust i do love me a good winter silk press!

Omg this is my first comment! I'm so happy you love it. Pink is literally a lifestyle...the girls that get it, get it!
